Vintage Women。This is absolutely a marvelous tilt hat from the fabulous forties! The wide brim is an oblong semi rigid structure which is covered in beautiful multicolored striped taffeta that has been gathered around the round, almost flat crown. At the front there is a bow made of strips of the taffeta which holds three beautiful matching green feather \"flowers\". There is also stationary navy veiling at the top, which does not extend down towards the face. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in a tilted position.What a fabulous look! Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. The label was created by a group of well-known designers who wanted to remain anonymous & wanted to support the New York Creation label & keep it competitive with French styles of the era.
