Vintage 1940s Navy Straw Hat with Small Flowers and Veil, 22 。This is a unique 1940s\' copper colored straw toque.A toque is small cap or bonnet having a narrow brim or no brim at all. Toques were popular from the 13th to the 16th century in Europe, especially France. The mode was revived in the 1930s.The hat has no brim, and it extends into a point with and indentation at the top.The point has three distinct lines as it extends upwards. There is a satin-like copper fabric piping over the hat, which ends in a large set of bows of the same fabric. The center of the bow is adorned by a circle of small imitation pearls. The half veil matches the copper color of the hat. To keep the hat in place there is an elastic band which is worn under the hair. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Mannequin not for sale.
