1930s Straw Wide Brim Vintage 1930s Woven Straw Cartwheel 。Extremely shallow and low-profile, typically measuring 1.5 inches deep.
Completely flat-topped with a sharp, rigid 90-degree angle transitioning down into the side walls of the crown. It is designed purely to \"perch\" flat or at an angle on top of the head.
An exaggerated, oversized width measuring 3.5 inches from the base of the crown to the outer edge, with a total of 14 inches across. It is perfectly flat, circular, and rigid. It extends strictly horizontally like a disc or wagon wheel, without any downward sloping or dramatic modern sun-hat floppiness.
Finished with a tightly stitched grosgrain ribbon binding or a precisely rolled straw edge to reinforce the brim and prevent the weave from fraying.
Crafted from heavy, stiffened, tightly woven natural straw, and synthetic horsehair crinoline.
A delicate, open-mesh bird nest tulle netting attached around the base of the crown that drapes slightly over the edge of the brim. Hand-assembled, pressed-fabric millinery flowers clustered tightly with green wire framed leaves.
A fixed, non-stretch grosgrain ribbon sweatband stitched flat along the inner brim. The only flaw is the elastic chin band is almost detached on one side (see photo).
This is one of many hats that I will be listing from my late grandmother\'s estate. She was a military wife for over two decades from the 1940s to 1960s. She had a collection of hats and gloves that she wore to military functions as an officer\'s wife.
