SCENTS & SENSIBILITY: FRAGRANCE DAY TAKES OVER NYC。A true conversation piece, this extraordinary vintage MOIRE hat is handcrafted in rich burgundy, copper, olive, rose and bronze velvet with intricate floral appliqué, hand beading, dimensional flowers and dramatic sculptural detailing. The oversized circular silhouette creates a whimsical mushroom effect, while the underside reveals beautifully gathered copper satin and an attached tortoiseshell style headband that secures the hat comfortably in place. Bold, theatrical and completely unforgettable, this feels made for a 1970s avant garde fashion event, Hollywood costume wardrobe, disco era party, Studio 54 inspired night, editorial photo shoot, masquerade, gallery opening or couture collector. Signed MOIRE inside. Exact date and history are unknown, but the construction, materials and design appear consistent with vintage artisan millinery. One of a kind appearance with visible handwork and natural irregularities that add to its wearable art character. Please examine all photographs closely for condition and construction details. Ideal for collectors, stylists, costume designers, performers and anyone who believes a hat should enter the room before they do.
